Tenth Anniversary Celebration and Fifth Biennial National Conference of the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Society of the Philippines

MANILA, Philippines - The Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Society of the Philippines will celebrate its Tenth Anniversary with the holding of its fifth Biennial National Conference at the St. Luke's Medical Center, Global City, on October 25-26, 2010. This year's theme is "Empowering the Young ADDult through Transitions."As it celebrates this important milestone, it is proper to recall the Society's modest beginning. In 2000, the officers and staff of Eucharistiana Center for Special Children and Learning Inn, worked to make sure that everything was running smoothly for the ongoing First National Conference on ADHD. The Project Director, Peter Mallonga, was particularly satisfied with the launching of the ADHD Society of the Philippines. He and his associates had pushed for its creation because they firmly believed that only be empowering those who are most affected by the disorder - children/adults with ADHD and their families - can the children's problems be addressed. Supported by the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives, the organization was formally introduced, together with tts first core-group members, on October 21, 2000, to the more than 250 conference participants.The Society was envisioned to be a venue for efforts by parents, professionals, and concerned individuals in promoting the welfare of persons, particularly children, with ADHD. …
