BLUE Square Bet Premier club Gateshead have had their depleted defensive resources further stretched after Michael Kay turned down a third month on loan at the International Stadium.
The 20-year-old has returned to Sunderland after featuring in all of Gateshead's 10 games during his twomonth loan spell.
The former England Under-17 international scored on his debut against Mansfield Town and created Gateshead's goal in his final game against Forest Green Rovers on Saturday. Gateshead boss Ian Bogie had hoped the Consett-born player would extend his stay, but Kay has declined the offer to do so.
