ICW Panayam lecture?Valence and ambivalence: Notes on the troubled history of science and poetry?the day before.LIRA's?plenary speakers are both National Artists for Literature-former U.P. College of Arts and Letters dean Virgilio Almario and?Poets Essayists Novelists (PEN) chair?Dr. Bienvenido Lumbera-who talked about its theme,?'Mahalaga ba ang Tula?'Literature and Filipino language educators from elementary school to college as well as writers and other lovers of Filipino literature convened and discussed the present state, the changes to, and the future of how poetry in Filipino is read, taught, and written.Together with Rebecca Anonuevo, Romulo Baquiran Jr., Michael Coroza, Danilo Reyes, and Edgar Samar, we, being of the LIRA's founding members,?were invited to react?to Dr. Lumbera's paper entitled?Ang Tulang Filipino sa Kolehiyo.Our co-reactor, Roberto Anonuevo, who was recently appointed as the?Commission on Filipino Language's?acting director general, promoted his son Aman's recital.Gifted Amansinaya Anonuevo, the pride of La Immaculada Concepcion School, will perform with Marie Nathanael Javier (St. Paul College-Pasig), Bethany Huang (Reedley International School), Justin Agbulos (St. Joseph Catholic School), and with their mentor Jerome Agbulos (U.P. Diliman). Billed?Kuwerdas ng Panahon, this classical guitar concert will be held?in December 11, 4 p.m., at the Tanghalang Pasigueno within the Pasig City Hall Complex. Bobby promised we will be serenaded with the music of Albeniz, Bach, Burgmuller, Dowland, Duarte, Giulliani, Johnson, Lecuona, Sanz, Sor, and Tarrega.The front acts include Evelyn Batobalonos, Ruelson Bello, and Jellou Borbe from the All Asian Bible and Music College.
