POIGNANTrecollections of the spectacular rise and demise of Coventry's Massey Ferguson factory is the subject of a new documentary.
Former workers at the Banner Lane factory share their own memories of the plant's history in a special DVD, The Last Tractor, by media production company, Second Sight. It looks at the success of the first tractor, The Little Grey Fergie, which revolutionised farming, and includes changes to management which led to thousands of job losses.
There is also original footage filmed at the factory on Christmas Eve 2002 when the last tractor rolled off the production line, bringing an end to 56 years of agricultural growth.
Workers, including Jim Brown and Dave Melhan, who had been w o r k i n g there since 1965, spoke about the m e r g e r , changes to w o r k i n g practices and the final curtain call on the factory.
