Accord Signed Offering Courses for Disabled's Special Education

BAUKO, Mountain Province - The administration of the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) and the Philippine Council of Chesire Homes for the Disabled (PhilCoCHED) recently signed an agreement to pilot the offering of courses related to the special education of disabled persons from the different parts of the Cordillera.PhilCoCHED is an affiliate of Leonard Chesire International (LCI), which is an international foundation catering to the welfare of persons with disabilities in the global village.The organization offered to establish linkages that will allow the State-run higher education institution to provide special education for persons with disabilities in terms of basic literacy, economic empowerment, vocational and technical education and other advocacies in social participation so that those with disabilities will feel accepted in the society.Dr. Nieves A. Dacyon, MPSPC president, said it is the institution's first time to enter into partnership with State universities and colleges, thus, Mountain Province was chosen to help empower the public to be mindful of the needs of persons with disabilities.Based on the agreement, the PhilCoCHED will provide trainings and seminars for the people who will work at the special education center to be established at the MPSPC Bauko campus and to the parents of children with special needs. …
