WARREN WHITNEY knows his musical passion is a dying art, but he is still fighting to keep it alive.
The Ballina resident has been invo-lved with the St Andrew's Anglican Church Choir for close to 20 years and has led the group through many Easter and Christmas performances.
This year is no different as Mr Whitney and 20 choir members will perform John Stainer's Crucifixion oratorio at various locations on the Northern Rivers this week in celebration of the Easter religious period.
Mr Whitney, the choir's musicaldirector and organist, said while many loyal choir members had been in the group for years, it was very difficult to recruit young people.
aIt's a dying art,a he said. aIt's part of a tradition that might have been popular 60 years ago but society has changed, the church has changed and things have become more contemporary.
