MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Tourism (DoT) and the Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) Thursday agreed to jointly undertake activities that will boost tourism in the country.
In a meeting held at the DoT office in Manila, acting DoT Secretary Ramon Jimenez Jr. agreed to back key projects of the PTAA which key officials of the association led by its president Aileen Clemente presented.
"We very much appreciate the support and cooperation given by Secretary Jimenez. It ensures that our push as an association for increased tourism development in the country would have a bigger impact," Clemente said.
For his part Secretary Jimenez said the PTAA is already helping the DoT just by doing its job as a leading partner of the government in the promotion of the Philippines as a prime tourism destination.
"They are helping unite the tourism industry and have been supportive of our initiatives. Their enthusiasm has given encouragement to those who are in the industry while also helping others to understand the country's tourism industry," Secretary Jimenez said.
