Who is your role model in business and why? David Grove. Without doubt he was a well respected industrialist who believed in the Midlands and the skills that remain here today. His untimely and recent death is a sad loss to the local community.
What most excites you about being a Partner in Equistone? In a market which is full of bad news, and where private equity funds are often struggling to raise new money, it is certainly exciting to be part of Equistone's future. We have a fantastic track record to raise further funds for investment but we also have a blank canvass on which to operate.
How will Equistone continue to be successful given the difficult economic outlook? We aim to have a continuity of approach which has served us so well. So don't expect us to change our focus of investing in partnership with strong management teams or our rigorous approach to understanding what makes businesses tick. That is what has driven our success over the last 20 years.
Which business sectors really interest you? We have four main areas of focus in the UK: Consumer & Travel, Specialist Engineering, Financial Services and Support Services. Having said that, we remain opportunistic to back high quality and ambitious management teams across the spectrum.
