l The author of the award-winning Six Fang Marks and a Tetanus Shot, Richard de Nooy, jets in from Amsterdam to launch his latest novel, The Big Stick (Jacana Media), on Tuesday at 5.30 for 6pm.

Alma Nel leaves her home on the edge of the Kalahari to retrieve the body of her gay son in Amsterdam. Driven by guilt and grief, she resolves to reconstruct Staal's life and the events leading up to his death, undertaking a bizarre quest in a surreal world. As her quest progresses, Alma discovers a mysterious stranger is several steps ahead of her, trying to put together the pieces of the puzzle.

De Nooy will be in conversation with award-winning local author Lauren Beukes, author of Moxyland and Zoo City.
