In 1988, a team of top pilots from the Italian Air Force attempted a spectacular manoeuvre at an airshow in Ramstein, Germany. It went terribly wrong, and three aircraft collided, one of them crashing into the terrified crowd. Chris Ledgard gives an account of the horrific events of that day.
