TWO former NHS workers have teamed up to form a business aiming to help their former employer improve the non-clinical aspects of its work.
John Johnson and Roger Haydon, who worked together at County Durham Primary Care Trust, have set up Aptitude Partners LLP to initially focus on support for GP practices.
The Sunderland-based business, which trades under the name Helping Health Work, aims to help doctors improve efficiency while continuing to provide quality care.
Mr Johnson is a former GP practice manager and Mr Haydon worked as head of information services at County Durham PCT.
They have now developed tools and processes to help GP practices audit what they do, identify options for change and then put those changes in place.
It includes a tool which shows GPs the specific times each week when patients request consultations, so that practices can ensure they have maximum cover at the right times.
