Mid-Summer Family Fest in Fox River Grove

Rotary Club of Cary-Grove: The Rotary Club of Cary-Grove is partnering with Norge Ski Club to host a Mid-Summer Family Fest from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Norge Ski Club, 100 Ski Hill Road, Fox River Grove.

The Rotary Club represents membership from both Cary and Fox River Grove. It has co-sponsored the "Concerts in the Park" series in Cary for the past five years and wanted to do something similar in the Fox River Grove community. The Norge Ski Club liked the idea of a family fest event and agreed to co-sponsor it.

In addition to activities for younger members of the family, the event will feature local musical talent. American English will kick off the day's event from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Additional groups performing include Claire Kelly, The Forty-Fives and The Sage Band.

The younger members of the crowd will enjoy face painting, a bouncy house and temporary tattoos. Food and beverages will also be available.

Admission is $10 prior to the event, $15 at the gate; free for kids 12 and younger. For pre-sale admission, call Gil Gulbrandson at (847) 639-4140.

NILSRA: The Northern Illinois Streetrod Association will start its "Cruise In" season from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Holiday Inn Bennigan's, 495 Airport Road, Elgin. The event will be held the first and third Saturday through Aug. 18. The entry is free. There will be DJ, 50/50 raffle, Bennigan's food and beer tents. Visit nilsra.com for details.

Audubon Society: On Saturday, Aug. 4, take a bird walk with Kane County Chapter of Illinois Audubon Society at 8 a.m. at Nelson Lake/Dick Young Forest Preserve in Batavia. Meet in the parking lot by the silo on Nelson Lake Road, three-quarter mile south of Main Street in Batavia and 1 1/2 miles west of Randall Road.
