Fashion's Spring 2013 shows are in full swing, with flowers and stripes galore. Newsweek parses the stand-out trends.
The brighter, the better: Burberry trotted out explosively colored metallic versions of its iconic raincoat (above) in blue, pink, gold, and plum. Even bags and shoes came in shocking colors--a trend echoed on runways from Vera Wang to Matthew Williamson.
From the floral jumpsuit at 3.1 Phillip Lim to the horticultural prints at Diane von Furstenberg, Spring's shows were bursting with blooms. At Prada (above), graphic flowers popped up on plush sweaters, coats--even eyeglasses.
Marc Jacobs's new collection--which was a little bit Op Art, a little bit Edie Sedgwick--introduced stripes of every variety: vertical, horizontal, thick, and thin. The collection, Jacobs said, included "a bit of everything that I love--lots of straight lines."
