THE grieving dad of the Delhi gang rape victim wants a hospital built in her name as a permanent memorial.
Badri Singh Pandey, 53, finally decided to reveal the name of his daughter to the world so that other rape victims in India can find strength from her identity.
But now he would like a lasting commemoration to Jyoti Singh Pandey, 23 - who became known as "India's daughter".
Yesterday, Badri spoke from Billia, in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. He said: "Our village doesn't have health facilities. It's a village with no amenities, not even consistent electricity.
"My daughter wanted to be a doctor and help people so the best thing would be to construct a hospital in her name. I would be very proud of that." Our sister paper the Sunday People yesterday revealed Badri's decision to tell the world about Jyoti.
Badri said all he can focus on is his last conversation with her.
He added: "I'm finding it hard to remember anything about her at the moment except when she spoke to me for the last time, just minutes before she had a massive heart attack. …
