Kane County Genealogical Society: The Kane County Genealogical Society will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, in the first-floor meeting room of the Geneva History Center, 113 S. Third St. The evening's topic will be "Scanning, Organizing and Emailing Documents and Photos" presented by Larry Pepper. Pepper will discuss photo and document scanning techniques as well as ways to best utilize the technology in family research. Bachelor 'N' Bachelorettes: Batavia Chapter of Bachelor 'N' Bachelorettes Square Dancing Club dances from 8 to 10:30 p.m. every second and fourth Friday. Starting in 2013, the club will meet in a new location, Baker Community Center, 101 S. Second St., St. Charles. Elburn Lions Club: The Elburn Lions Club, 500 Filmore St., Elburn, will host bingo every Friday night at the clubhouse. The public is invited. Doors open at 5 p.m. Early Bird Bingo starts at 6:30 p.m., followed by the first of four progressive raffles. Regular bingo games start at 7 p.m. and include two split the pot games. Fox Valley Mixers Square Dance Club: The Fox Valley Mixers Square Dance Club will host an evening of square and round dancing on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Baker Community Center, 101 S. Second St., St Charles. The dance will begin at 8 p.m. and end at 10:30 p.m. Wally Smulson and Howard Hoffman will share the calls and cues for the dances. On Saturday, Feb. 2, take a bird walk with Kane County Chapter of Illinois Audubon Society at 8 a.m. at Nelson Lake/Dick Young Forest Preserve in Batavia. Meet in the parking lot by the silo, on Nelson Lake Road, three-quarter mile south of Main Street in Batavia and 1 1/2 miles west of Randall Road. Walk as little or as much of the over 3-mile circle around the lake. Beginners and families are welcome as experienced birders are glad to share their knowledge. NAMI: The National Alliance of Mental Illness DeKalb, Kane South, Kendall Counties monthly coffee will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Innovative Behavior Health PC, 58 Chicago Road, Oswego, corner of routes 34 and 25. Veronica Lickflet, a licensed clinical social worker, will speak on anxiety. National Alliance on Mental Illness-DeKalb, Kane-South and Kendall Counties is an affiliate of the national grass-roots organization NAMI consisting of family members and persons living with mental illness.
