Now is as good a time as any to start planning your Bank Holiday weekends and back with a vengeance for the second one in May is Evolution.

Again taking over Newcastle and Gateshead's quaysides on Sunday and Monday, the festival is, as usual, bringing some big names to its riverside party.

Indie-rockers The Vaccines are playing on the Sunday, and it has been a meteoric rise for Justin Young, Arni Arnason, Freddie Cowan and Pete Robertson, who formed in 2010. Since releasing their debut album in 2011, What Did You Expect from The Vaccines? the band has supported Arctic Monkeys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arcade Fire and The Stone Roses.
