Americans John Isner and Sam Querrey staked the United States to a commanding 2-0 lead over Brazil in first-round action of the Davis Cup on Friday at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.
Both players won their singles match in straight sets, and both used a commanding serve to control play. Querrey set the tone with a 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 win over Thomaz Bellucci that took just over an hour-and-a-half to complete.
Isner needed three minutes shy of two hours, winning 6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-3 over Thiago Alves.
