ACOUPLE have raised PS170,000 to roll out a business leasing software which pushes a client's name to the top of the list in an online search.
And they are hoping to raise the same amount again this month as they launch their plan for a business which aims to see sales of PS5m in five years.
Sunderland-based 4th Aspect was set up by husband and wife team Dave and Claire Glynn after the duo spotted a gap in the market for a programme capable of producing detailed diagnostics of a website with the aim of getting the site as highly ranked in the search engines as possible. They began work on the business three years ago and raised nearly PS400,000 to build the software, hire staff and develop the business before it is launched nationwide this year and worldwide in 2014. Claire Glynn said: "Dave and I worked at web development company Atomic for eight years and it did very well before we sold it. Then one night I woke up and had this vision of what we should do - a simple search engine optimisation process.
"From there we developed it and created the software. We worked with Paul Callaghan (of Leighton Group in Sunderland) and he lent us a team to help work it up and we have been growing since then."
The company had a soft launch last year and quickly built up a customer base of more than 40 companies who lease the product monthly. And they are still there and 4th Aspect turns over around PS260,000. But the Glynns believe it can grow its turnover to PS5m as they recruit senior sales staff to push the concept in this country using social media and more traditional marketing and next year take on the world market, starting in the US with a dedicated agent there. …
