DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PNA) - A team from the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Region 7 is in Negros Oriental to conduct extensive operations in implementing traffic laws as stipulated in Republic Act (RA) Number 4136, or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code of the Philippines.
The team is led by LTO-7 Transportation and Regulations Officer and Operations Officer-in-Charge Macario Getaruelas who told reporters last Monday that the activity is part of the agency's annual law enforcement operations being conducted nationwide.
The team began its week-long operations in Bayawan City's District Office's area of responsibility in the southern part of Negros Oriental.
This week, the same team will be conducting roadside inspections and apprehensions in the LTO Bais District Office's coverage area covering the province's northern towns and cities.
Getaruelas explained that the exercise is designed as a reminder to the public that the LTO is serious about enforcing traffic laws, rules and regulations.
He also said road users are to be reminded that there are LTO district offices in their areas that they can visit for clarification regarding transportation and traffic concerns and issues.
"More importantly, the yearly traffic law enforcement operations form part of the LTO's road safety program which the United Nations is encouraging and implementing during the "decade of action for road safety from 2011 to 2020," the LTO-7 official said. …
