The album, Journey to the Amazon, was nominated for best classical crossover album. Isbin said she was inspired to collaborate with two other musicians on this collection of Latin music by her travels to the Amazon rain forests in Brazil, Colombia and Ecuador.

The same album won Editor's Choice Recording of the Month in Gramophone magazine. Isbin performs the music with saxophone player Paul Winter and Brazilian percussionist Thiago de Mello.

The Grammy Awards will be announced next month.

Isbin has been performing with great orchestras throughout the world since she was 14 and won a contest to play a solo with the Minnesota Orchestra in Minneapolis. She played a Vivaldi concerto. …
