Attention students. The school year is about to end, and it's time for that summer job.
Finding the right one can be a daunting experience, especially for the first-timer. To make the quest easier, Nancy Sakol, president of Superior Personnel, and Tammy Cole, account executive for Advanced Personnel, offered some professional advice. Both companies are in Gurnee.
Employment agencies are just as diverse as the jobs they fill, so it's a good idea to check with several to determine if one is right for you.
Sakol, who conducts seminars at local high schools, said her company usually focuses on applicants older than 18 with a high school degree.
Cole's company works with undergraduates as well as teachers and college students for employment in the clerical, data entry, reception/switchboard and short-term assignment areas. Most agencies represent a variety of employers, and some work with light industrial jobs.
Sakol suggested the park district, summer camps and retail establishments as good starting points for students. …
