Harper Speech Team Takes Championship

Thirteen members of the Harper College Speech Team have made school history by winning the Region IV Championship for the first time in 30 years. Region IV includes two-year colleges in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio and Wisconsin.

Members of the speech team and their awards include: Stacey Haberkorn, silver medal for Speech to Entertain and bronze medal for Duet Acting; Kari Jones, gold medal for Reader's Theater, silver medal for Duet Acting and bronze medal for Prose Reading; Michael Gonzalez, bronze medals for Persuasive Speaking and Informative Speaking; River Ozgur, gold medals for Duet Acting and Reader's Theater, silver medal for Oral Interpretation; Mike Egart, gold medal for Reader's Theater and bronze medal for Duet Acting; Tony Mrotek, gold medal for Reader's Theater and bronze medal for Communication Analysis; Chris Lopez, gold medal for Reader's Theater and bronze medal for Poetry Reading; Tricia Noens, gold medal for Reader's Theater, silver medal for Dramatic Interpretation and bronze medal for Duet Acting; Ray Hernandez, bronze medals for Persuasive Speaking, Poetry Reading, Dramatic Interpretation and Oral Interpretation; Hans Fleischmann, gold medal for Reader's Theater, Poetry Reading and Duet Acting; Rick Vargas, gold medal for Reader's Theater and Dramatic Interpretation, silver medal for Duet Acting and bronze medal for Prose Reading; and Kelly Peairs, silver medal for Duet Acting and bronze medal for Dramatic Interpretation. …
