The president of the Hoffman Estates firefighters union said his membership is anxious to see details of Chief Ed Cavello's plans to reorganize the department.
Six months after taking over as fire chief, Cavello is expected to unveil his restructuring plan at a special village board committee meeting this morning.
Cavello's plan, which requires trustees' approval, calls for creation of a deputy fire chief, a fire marshal and three battalion chiefs. Those are essentially title changes for existing positions, although some duties will also change, Cavello said.
