Wheeling Township Elementary District 21 officials are developing software that will allow students to quiz themselves on subjects related to state report card tests.
Assessment Director Robert F. Gerry said he is developing software that would allow students to take practice tests related to the Illinois Goals Assessment Program tests and record their scores.
The software also would allow parents and teachers to check students' progress on the tests, he said.
"I'm in the process of developing an interactive assessment. Kids can take the test and keep record of their scores," Gerry said.
He added that District 21 is the only district he is aware of in Illinois developing such software. Subjects covered in the program include math, reading, English, science and social science.
The state annually tests students in reading, writing and math in the third, sixth and eighth grades under the IGAP school report cards. …
