It was just too much for Lake Park.
In the end, St. Charles and quarterback Tyler Evans had too much offense for the Lancers in winning the Upstate Eight Conference showdown 37-36 Friday night in Roselle.
But the story of the game went well beyond points. A stunning second-half Lake Park comeback brought the Lancers from 21 points down to within 1 point and just 1:43 remaining in the fourth quarter.
A 9-play, 83-yard drive, masterfully directed by Lake Park quarterback Jonathan Peacock in just 1:59, culminated in a 2-yard touchdown burst by Shaun Grace to trim the Lancers deficit to 37-36.
