Hoffman Estates High School's track field has hosted numerous races in the past, but the track will host a different kind of race this month - a race for life.
The American Cancer Society will host its inaugural Relay for Life at the track from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on May 18. The relay will raise money for cancer research.
Students from HEHS have already collected donations for the event. About 130 students will run in teams in a 12-hour relay. Each team consists of eight to 12 people, and teams must have at least one member running at all times during the 12 hours.
