Arthur Frommer, America's Travel Czar, presents "Unusual, Exotic and Dream Vacations" when he speaks at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the next presentation of the Elgin Enrichment Series.
Arthur Frommer led the charge in one of the great revolutions of the 20th century - the opening up of travel opportunities to more Americans than ever before.
Through scores of well-known books, beginning with "Europe on $5 a Day" back in the '50s, and through the media, Frommer has shown Americans how to get at the riches of different cities and countries. He has proved that you don't have to spend a lot of money to have a good time. As a matter of fact, his travel philosophy is, "The less you spend, the more you enjoy your travel."
Through his travel agency, Arthur Frommer Tours, he has originated several innovations to the travel industry, such as public charter of airplanes and the London Show Tours with British Airways. He was one of the first travel operators to charter a flight into Egypt.
