Clan McGregor; Proud Ewan and His Family Star at Their Highland Fling

EWAN McGREGOR left the shimmer of Tinseltown far behind for a starring role in the rain yesterday.

The actor took centre stage as chieftain of the Crieff Highland Games in Perthshire, accompanied by his own growing clan - his French wife, Eve, who is expecting a baby boy in two months, and their five-year-old daughter, Clara.

Eve, 35, braved the downpour, sheltering under a huge green umbrella.

The couple, who recently laughed off rumours of an affair between Ewan and Nicole Kidman, co-star in his latest movie Moulin Rouge, cuddled and chatted as they mingled with fans.

Proud in his McGregor tartan kilt, the 30-year-old star welcomed competitors at the games, organised by his father, Jim.

He said: 'It is fantastic to be back in my home town and surrounded by all my old friends at what is a real family occasion for me. It is like Christmas, only better.' London-based McGregor, who revealed that he had just toured the west of Scotland with his father, brother and uncle on motorbikes, declined to join the field events at the games. …
