Tagig residents and their local officials continue to air their opposition to the detention of Abu Sayyaf leader Hector Janjalani at Camp Ricardo Papa due to what they said was a clear and present danger it poses to the security of their town.
The Southern Police District Office (SPDO), meanwhile, said that it encountered difficulty in handling the case of Janjalani who was brought Friday morning to Camp Ricardo Papa in Taguig for temporary detention because of the strong opposition of the Taguig officials and residents.
This was disclosed by Senior Supt. Jose Gutierrez, SPDO director, who admitted he had a hard time explaining to Taguig residents that the police force is still in full control of the situation. He also explained to Taguig officials and residents that the SPDO is very much prepared for Janjalani.
"I must admit it was not easy to establish security measures for Janjanlani's stay at the camp's detention center but we can assure the public that we can do it very well," Gutierrez said.
Gutierrez assured the public that those in charged with the security of the camp are well trained and experienced. "I know the police force can do it very well as far as security measures are concerned," he said.
The SPDO director also took in consideration the safety of the Taguig residents who continued to oppose the transfer of detention of Janjanlani from Cebu to Taguig.
Gutierrez said "the police force is very concerned on the safety of the public and we already made adjustment for that matter," he said.
