On a day of red, white and blue Super Bowl patriotism, the team with the uniform and colours to match caused the biggest upset of all time to clinch a shock victory.

Before the game had even kicked off in New Orleans the St Louis Rams had been declared sured-bet winner and were installed as massive 14 point favourites.

But all the talk of a rams dynasty became more of a Rams travesty as the New England Patriots capped America's biggest sporting event with a last second winning field goal.

From 48 yards out kicker Adam Vinatieri scored the game winning field goal to hand the Patriots a 20-17 win and land their place in the history books.

Just 60 seconds earlier they appeared to have blown it after the rams pulled back 14 points to tie the game and send it towards overtime.

But at the age of just 24 - Tom Brady constructed a drive with all the composure of a Super Bowl veteran as he marched his troops down the field in the most dramatic finally of all times.

Brady, the games MVP, delivered five crucial completions that took the Patriots 53 yards and put them in the position to seal the victory. …
