- Southern Illinois University Carbondale has named the following local students to its 2001 fall semester deans' list.

Schaumburg: Julie Alice Case, junior; Shawn A. Garcia, senior; Gregory Joseph Thorson, senior; and Julie Ann Tucknott, junior.

Hoffman Estates: Glenn F. Katayama, freshman, (straight "A"); Mary Katherine Krones, sophomore, (straight "A"); Brina K. Marcus, senior, (straight "A"); Patrik B. Pistorio, junior; Robert Carl Stecki, senior, (straight "A"); and Joseph Urso, senior, (straight "A").

Deans' list recognition goes to students who compile grade-point averages that meet or exceed standards set by SIUC's various schools and colleges. The minimum standards vary by college and range from 3.25 to 3.75 on a scale of 4.0.

- Lisa M. Ritter, a junior at Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Ind., has been named to the academic honors list for the Fall 2001 semester.
