Sgt. Nugent graduates from training center

Buffalo Grove police announced that Sgt. Thomas Nugent recently graduated from the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety's School of Police Staff and Command. The SPSC is designed to prepare top and mid-level law enforcement managers and supervisors for senior agency positions. Participants also earn 18 hours of college credit. Nugent attended a 10-week class at the Center for Public Safety in Evanston. The program covered four broad areas of study: management and its environment, organizational theory and behavior, human resource administration and skills for planning and analysis.

Youth groups to meet at Beth Judea May 20

Three youth groups of Congregation Beth Judea - Kadinkers, Kadima and USY - will meet from 6:15 to 7:45 p. m. May 20 in the Beth Judea Social Hall. The third- to 12th-graders will meet Dr. Robert James, zoologist, a wild animal specialist. He will bring and talk about animals that he is nursing back to health. Donation is $10 per person for dinner and show. Call (847) 634-0777.
