MICK McCARTHY was putting his jet-lagged squad through their paces here today with the message: "Let's sweat it on".
The Irish party walked into 30 degrees heat and extreme humidity when they arrived at their island retreat off the coast of Japan yesterday.
But the Irish boss (left) said he was delighted with the conditions and couldn't wait to get down to some hard work with the players.
As he checked into the Hyatt Regency hotel on Saipan a full 24 hours after leaving Dublin Airport, McCarthy said: "The high temperatures and humidity suit me fine . I want to get a sweat on when we start training on Sunday and
the hotter the better. We are not tourists, we are here to work and to get down to business now after all the excitement concerning the World Cup back at home."
The Irish journey took them through Amsterdam and Tokyo to the Mariana Islands.
When they arrived in Saipan McCarthy and some of his players were decorated with a Mwar Mwar, a garland of flowers placed on the head of visitors to the island in a welcome ritual.
"I say this with the greatest of respect but I have never been as happy to leave Ireland behind," added McCarthy.
