The Ulster-Scots language will be admirably represented at next weekend's 'Cathal Bui' arts festival in Blacklion, Co Cavan and Belcoo, Co Fermanagh by poet and language expert James Fenton.
The cross-border festival aims to improve cultural awareness between the two traditions and has grown in popularity since it first was held two years ago.
This will be the second appearance at the festival for James, who had his first collection of poetry 'Thonner an Thon' last year published amid great critical acclaim.
The festival is in honour of the famous ancient folk poet, Cathal MacGiolla Ghuanna 1680-1750, who travelled around the border counties with his craft.
The festival, which runs from Thursday, June 27 to Monday July 1, features dance, story-telling, writings and performance in English.
James will give two separate public readings of his poetry at 8pm and 11pm on Friday, June 28, in the MacNean Resource Centre, Blacklion.
He will hold a workshop discussing the Ulster-Scots language the following day at 2pm in the same venue. …
