OVER last summer, two new Local Nature Reserves (LNRs) were designated on Anglesey at Llangoed and Llanddona.
On Friday, October 11, the reserves will be launched by Dr Malcolm Smith, Chief Scientist and Senior Director of the Countryside Council for Wales.
These reserves - which are only the second and third on Anglesey - will be managed by the local Community Councils at Llanddona and Llangoed with the help of Menter Mn and conservation experts.
Parts of the land within the reserves have been bought by Menter Mn on behalf of the Community Councils especially for inclusion within the LNRs.
By being designated locally, the reserves are truly community nature reserves and represent a great step forward towards enabling local communities to manage their own natural environment.
All these reserves receive the full endorsement of Anglesey County Council and help to fulfil the aspirations of the County Council's recently launched Biodiversity Action Plan.
