Parent fair -- The parent fair will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the school, 2051 San Pablo Road, and includes a general PTA meeting and two 30-minute workshops for parents. School-age children will be entertained by Mr. Science with his lab full of experiments. Other arrangements need to be made for pre-schoolers. The workshop topics include Homework/Study Skills, Positive Discipline/Handling Parental Stress, College Education Plans, Physical Activity for Healthy Living and Motivation, FCAT/Sunshine Standards and America's Choice Writers, Readers and Math Workshops for each grade level. Each topic will be offered at both sessions. Parents can attend one workshop per session. Each workshop will be led by professionals. This program is free. ATLANTIC BEACH ELEMENTARY
Seminar -- On Oct. 15, the school held a free seminar, "Children Against Molesters," for children and their parents. Greg DiFranza, a retired police officer and current police and military trainer, taught the course. The seminar taught children what to do if someone touched them inappropriately or tried to kidnap them.
Beautification day -- The PTSA is holding a cleanup and beautification day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. Volunteers and gardening tools will be welcome.
Gator Bowl tickets -- The band is selling Gator Bowl tickets for $15 -- they're normally $40 -- as a fund-raising activity. The seats are in a reserved block and are on sale through Nov. 25. Reserve tickets at 247-5929, extension 118.
School Advisory Council -- Meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Nancy Broner, who will be Fletcher's School Board representative, will be a guest at the meeting.

Duke scholars -- Forty-two seventh-graders qualified for participation in Duke University's Talent Identification Program. Students qualified by scoring at the 95th percentile or higher on a nationally recognized standardized achievement test.
