Rupert M. Evans, Sr., MPA, FACHE, is currently the president of the Institute for Diversity in Health Management, a 501 (c) (3) corporation affiliated with the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Hospital Association, National Association of Health Services Executives, and the Association of Hispanic Healthcare Executives. From 1995 until February 1999, Mr. Evans was president and CEO of the Erie Family Health Center in Chicago. In addition, he spent over 25 years serving in the U.S. Air Force, retiring from active duty as a Major; he has served on the staff of the Surgeon General of the Air Force and was the executive officer for the USAF Medical Support Agency. He was also the past president of the Chicago/Midwest chapter of the National Association of Health Services Executives. Mr. Evans is a Fellow in the UIC Public Health Leadership Institute and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He has written for Hospitals & Health Networks, Modern Healthcare, and Journal of Healthcare Management. He serves on the board of directors of The Illinois Facilities Fund and the Chicago chapter of the American Lung Association, and he is a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He holds a master's degree in public administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco and a bachelor's degree in environmental studies from California State University, Sacramento and University of California, Berkeley.

Mr. Evans: The Institute is a relatively young organization.
