The AMEWS Annual Program was held during the Middle East Studies Association Meetings. Many friends and members, new and old, attended this year's program. AMEWS is currently growing at a steady pace, attracting scholars who study gender, the Middle East, and Islam from all disciplines. We are very excited about the new vision and momentum AMEWS has today. Several issues were addressed and discussed at this year's meeting:

Miriam Cooke, Professor of Arabic at Duke University was introduced as incoming President. Special thanks and gratitude went to out-going President Sherifa Zuhur, for her very hard work, dedication and commitment to AMEWS.
