DUNGANNON Swifts produced a typical battling performance to storm back with a couple of second half goals to secure a 2-1 win away to Bangor yesterday.
It gave the Swifts the three points they needed to stay ahead of Ballymena United at the top of the First Division table.
Bangor started the game in attacking mode and their first chance came straight from the kick-off when Paul Sheeran popped a shot over the bar from 20 yards.
Then, in the fourth minute, the Seasiders took the lead after catching out the Swifts defence.
A long pass out of the Bangor half by Paul Emerson found Sheeran on the right flank. With just one Swifts defender present, a simple squared pass allowed Ian Coulter to slot a low shot out of Gavin Cushley's reach.
Bangor came close to a second goal in the 11th minute when a free from Gregg Davidson was met inside the Dungannon box, but a hooked effort from Ryan McLaughlin was high and wide of the goal.
Dungannon struggled to get out of their own half, but midway through the period, Rod McAree just missed an equaliser when he got on the end of a cross from Shane Coney. …
