DANISH winger Claus Jorgensen saved Bradford's bacon with a glorious injury time winner.
Until the Dane struck it looked as if City would suffer the indignity of failing to beat a Grimsby side reduced to 10 men for the whole of the second half.
Instead Jorgensen's fierce 20-yarder that gave home keeper Danny Coyne no chance enabled City to edge further away from the danger zone.
But spare a thought for battling Grimsby. They refused to give an inch after striker Steve Livingstone was sent off in first half injury time for catching City defender Robert Molenaar with an elbow.
