Leonard Bernstein's "Mass" gives church service a 20th-century musical infusion. Filled with dancing and a gamut of lyrical styles from hymns, the blues, and marches to a little Broadway razzle dazzle the production explores the spiritual and political crises of the late 1960s. Brazilian dance company Grupo Corpo combines classical ballet moves, folk dance steps and social dances to bring respected choreographer's new work, "Santagustin," to life. The piece uses bitter-sweet humor to explore the tension between pleasures of the flesh and more spiritual desires. The group also performs their 1992 piece, "21." Saturday provides the chance to pay homage to the United States while enjoying family entertainment at the U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation's annual Blessing of the Fleet ceremony at the Navy Memorial. Vice Adm. David Brewer III speaks about the service of the Amphibious Fleet, while the U.S. Navy Country Current Bluegrass group and ceremonial band performs. The acclaimed Houston Ballet joins the Paul Taylor Dance Company in a series of performances at the Kennedy Center that showcase Mr. Taylor's modern dance choreography. Both old favorites and the world premiere of a new work "In the Beginning" will be performed. "Celebrating an Icon: The Legacy of Paul Taylor" starts Wednesday and continues until April 13.
