Prosecutor: No-Bid Contract Violated No Criminal Laws

Boone County Prosecuting Attorney Kevin Crane has found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing in an illegal no-bid contract awarded to a county commissioner's boyfriend.

"I don't expect there to be any criminal action in the case," Crane said Tuesday.

This summer, the county broke a state law when it gave a construction contract for $4,814.50 to Brown Construction without taking bids for the work. State laws require that county leaders need to have an open bidding period for projects priced more then $4,500. Boone County Southern District Commissioner Karen Miller's boyfriend, David Brown, owns Brown Construction.
