Scientologists hate psychiatry. They blame psychiatry for racism, the Holocaust and countless other atrocities. Their "museum" exhibit that was on display in Jefferson City on Jan. 18 and 19 shouts "Psychiatry is the Profession of Death." Their claims are unfounded and absurd. These allegations come at a time when psychiatric services in Mid-Missouri are insufficient to care for the countless Missourians in need of our help. Our major mental health institutions are unable to find the bare minimum of psychiatrists to staff the Mid-Missouri Mental Health Center, Boone Hospital Center inpatient services, Fulton State Hospital and Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital.
