Series: First meeting
What to expect
Boston College, still smarting from a 85-60 spanking by No. 3 Kansas on Saturday at home, would like nothing more than to take out its frustrations on visiting Robert Morris in the first meeting between the schools. The Colonials, however, might not be the pushover the Eagles are expecting, having won four of their past five games after Saturday's 86-79 Northeast Conference victory at Quinnipiac. They own a 5-2 road record that also includes wins at Navy, Florida International, Fordham and Youngstown State, and they nearly upset Seton Hall in the Philly Hoop Group Classic in Newark, N.J., on Nov. 18 in a game in which Robert Morris failed to hold a 23-point second-half lead and lost in overtime, 111-107. Their road losses have come to Drexel and Duquesne. Boston College has played one other Northeast Conference team this season, struggling to beat Sacred Heart, 80-75, at home on Dec. 28.
About Robert Morris
With Saturday's 86-79 Northeast Conference victory at Quinnipiac, Robert Morris enjoys its best road record since the 1989-90 NCAA Tournament team matched this year's 5-2 start en route to a 10-4 road mark. A key reason Robert Morris has had success on the road has been its ability to make 3-point shots. The Colonials have hit at least eight 3-pointers in six of their first seven road contests and have also had at least 10 3-pointers in four of them, including 11-for-18 against Quinnipiac. Overall away from Sewall Center, Robert Morris has connected on 68 of 155 long-range shots (43.9 percent). Robert Morris fought off a late Quinnipiac challenge, outscoring the Bobcats, 9-2, to pull away from a one-point lead with 2:33 remaining.
By the numbers
