After graduating from the University of Tulsa with a chemical engineering degree, Joseph Abraham made a personal discovery.
"I was much more interested in understanding the human element than the chemical process," he said. "I started looking at other career alternatives that might fit better with my life."
So Abraham returned to the University of Tulsa to earn a graduate degree in industrial and organizational psychology.
After working for BellSouth in Atlanta and United Airlines in the Chicago area, Abraham returned to Tulsa and in 1996 formed A&M Psychometrics, a provider of organization testing and assessment services.
Now A&M Psychometrics has been designated a PSI Certified Partner.
A&M Psychometrics began working with PSI, a talent assessment company based in Burbank, Calif., with 900 employees, to deliver additional test content and conduct in-depth, psychologist- interpreted assessments of candidates for sales, professional- level, and executive positions.
"With our relationship now formalized as a PSI Certified Partner, Tulsa-area businesses will have convenient, local access to PSI's complete line of cognitive ability, work attitude, and leadership assessments," said Abraham, one of A&M Psychometrics' managing partners.
A&M Psychometrics is a provider of personality testing, employment testing, employee surveys and other organizational and talent-assessment services. The company also provides products that focus on improving job satisfaction, commitment and retention.
Used together, PSI and A&M Psychometrics assessment tools can provide a better perspective of the employee or candidate, said Abraham.
"For example, PSI's Professional Employment Test identifies a candidate's problem-solving and analytical skills, while A&M's Performance Perspectives Inventory identifies the candidate's work style and behavioral tendencies," he said. …
