When Trinity School sold its building at 1120 E. Hefner Rd. in late 2008, the private, nonprofit school for bright students with language-based or other learning differences began seeking a new site.
Trinity is completing the school year at E. Hefner, where classes had been offered since 1985, but needed a new location for the 2009- 10 school year.
The school found its new location and also found a new head of school to direct operations at the new site.
Trinity will move over the summer to 3800 N. Harvey Pkwy., near NW 36th Street and N. Walker Avenue. The school has an agreement to lease First Christian Church's Youth and Family Center behind the church.
The center has a gymnasium, classrooms, kitchen and space for Trinity's library and media center.
"We have a three-year lease," said Kelly Feroli, Trinity vice president.
Trinity sold the E. Hefner facility because the building exceeded needs, she said.
The school sold the building for $1.3 million to Providence Hall, a school seeking to expand. Providence offered classes for pre- kindergarten through eighth grade this year and plans to add the ninth grade for the next school year and eventually offer classes through the 12th grade.
Trinity started in 1961 as a preschool and kindergarten at St. George's Episcopal Church in the Village and moved to All Souls Episcopal Church after additional grades were added, moving in 1985 to the facility that was sold in late 2008.
The sale by Trinity included financial considerations.
"The sale helped us retire some debt," Feroli said.
In addition to the new location, Trinity has promoted Jennifer Vaught as head of the school.
Vaught was assistant head of the school for two years while Darlene Troxel was head of Trinity School.
A native of Ohio, Vaught has a master's degree in educational intervention from Rio Grande University. She is a certified intervention specialist for all grade levels in Oklahoma and is certified to teach all subjects for both traditional learners and those with mild to moderate learning disabilities. …
