More than 1,200 horses will boost the Oklahoma City economy next week.
The horses will compete in the Grand National and World Championship Morgan Horse Show. The show opens at the State Fair Arena on Sunday and runs through Oct. 13,
Each horse comes with owners, trainers and fans. Show organizers estimate that show participants will spend more than $4.5 million in Oklahoma City and the economic impact could be as high as $15 million.
The horses will compete for more than $250,000 in prize money.
Council of Presidents
Larry Williams, president of Northeastern State University, has been elected chairman of the Council of Presidents, an organization comprised of presidents from Oklahoma's public colleges and universities.
Other officers include Jim Cook, Rose State College president, vice chairman, and Glen Johnson, president of Southeastern Oklahoma State University, secretary/treasurer.
Serving on the Executive Committee with the new officers are Past Chairman Joe White, Carl Albert State College; and committee chairs Cindy Ross, Cameron University; Robert Todd, Oklahoma City Community College; Donnie Nero, Connors State College; Joe Wiley, Rogers State University; and Bill Cole, East Central University.
Lori Nelson, director of public relations and promotions for the Travel and Tourism Division of the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department, will be the speaker for the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce's luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 17 at the Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City Student Center.

Keck joins St. Gregory's
Gary Keck has joined the business faculty at St. Gregory's University in Shawnee.
Keck is a graduate of Oklahoma City University and earned his master's degree in 1994 while working full-time at Southwestern Bell.

Roger DeSpain, owner of the Roger DeSpain School of Real Estate and Appraisal, will be the speaker for the Sales and Marketing Executives of Central Oklahoma at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 14 at the Renaissance Hotel.
