Sylvia Molasky Frankel, a businesswoman and civic leader here, died Friday (April 5, 1996) in a Miami hospital of complications from lupus and osteoporosis. She was 76.
Mrs. Frankel, of Richmond Heights, was an insurance agent for more than 40 years with the Joseph Weingart Insurance Agency in Creve Coeur. In the 1960s, she became one of the first women commercial real estate brokers here and formed her own agency, Sylvia Frankel Real Estate.
As a child and teen-ager, she had worked in her family's grocery business, selling watermelons on the sidewalk at the old Biddle Market at 13th and O'Fallon streets. She was the founding president of Friends of the Retarded and former chairperson of the B'nai B'rith Institute. She was on the board of Hillel and the University City Charter Association and was active in the American Jewish Congress, League of Women Voters, Planned Parenthood of St. Louis, Gateway Festival Orchestra and Handgun Control Inc. …
