A SENIOR anti-terrorist detective today became the first person to be jailed in connection with the phone-hacking investigation when she was given a 15-month sentence.

Det Chief Insp April Casburn, 53, had called the News of the World and corruptly offered it confidential information on the inquiry's progress. But she was saved from an even longer sentence of three years by her "strong and positive" bond with a child she is adopting.
