JOHN ALDRIDGE, the Tranmere Rovers manager, has admitted giving Leicester City's Theo Zagorakis "a clip around the ear" during the Worthington Cup final, an action which yesterday earned him a Football Association misconduct charge.
Aldridge was incensed when Zagorakis, who was on the substitutes' bench, applauded the referee for dismissing Clint Hill, the Tranmere defender, after he fouled Emile Heskey in Sunday's match which Leicester went on to win 2-1. Aldridge has 14 days to respond to the charge and request a personal hearing.
